Testing a technique.

I admit I am not well versed in all of the established practices of writing improvement. This may be far from original, so please forgive me if it’s been done a billion times over.

I like my storytelling and writing style just fine. But it is lacking something. It doesn’t have the ring that I seek, yet I can’t quite put my finger on exactly what the back of my mind is trying to point at. Admittedly, I haven’t been reading as much as I normally do lately. I didn’t want to submerge myself in any single style of another writer – worried I might cling to it without realizing it in regards to my own writing.

While looking at my shelf of books nearby, I decided to try something new today and snagged five books and set them on the little table next to my chair here. Popped open each one and read a single page and set them back down. I want to see if it makes a difference. I plan to read a single page from each again when I get a lull at some point.

Anyone wanna play with me? Heheh, I grabbed pretty different tomes. Like an assault of various (but good in my opinion) writing styles.

The Eight.
The Hobbit.
The Inferno.
The Purple Emperor.
One Hundred Years of Solitude.

ETA: For all I know, this could be a very bad idea!
